This recommendation was made by the Cameroonian Government, whose ministers in charge of trade, health and technological development proceeded Friday, September 12, 2014 to the signing of a joint order.
The joint order signed by Luc Magloire Mbarga Atangana, Emmanuel Mbonde and Andre Mama Fouda makes it compulsory for the application of the standard NC 210: 2014-48 on the spirituous beverages.
In general, we mean by spirit drink, the alcohol fluid intended for human consumption with organoleptic characteristics individuals, a minimum alcoholic strength by volume of 15% vol except in the case of the egg liqueur for which the alcoholic strength normal is 14 % vol.
The spirituous beverages must be packed in containers other than the plastic bags or plastic bottles. The containers must be manufactured with materials without danger and suitable for the purpose for which they are intended.
Various institutions, parliamentarians, administrative officials, consumer associations and even individuals have to stinted occasions since 2010 attracted the attention of public authorities.
They emphasized the dramatic consequences related to excessive consumption of alcohol and the proliferation of whiskies from poor quality packed in bags and cans on the whole of the national territory. Several policy dialogs aimed to fight effectively against the scourge decried.
In the light of enormous damage caused, we proceeded to the revision of the standard on the spirituous beverages, accompanied by the decree which makes it mandatory for application. It has highlighted the quality checks in the producing companies as well as the controls on the import and in the markets.
The importers and local producers concerned shall have a period of 24 months, as of this date to sell their stocks of finished products. It is not therefore a question of importing the raw materials, nor to produce whiskies in sachet. This merchandise must have disappeared from our markets in these time limits.
