Women have been described as main pillars of the family. The Senior Divisional Officer for Meme Koulbout Aman David, made the laudation on the occasion of the 2014 edition of the International Day of the woman that took place at Kumba main grandstand on Saturday March 8, 2014.

The event that was equally addressed by the delegate of Women Empowerment and the family, Taku Michael was graced by women of all walks of life. In his terse address, the SDO appreciated the massive presence of the women, and went on to appeal to all stakeholders to ensure the proper sensitisation of violence against women and the girl child.

Against that backdrop, the SDO chronicled the role, especially the economic role women play in the society, like the cultivation of food to feed the population, before going on to say that today women in Cameroon, due to President Paul Biya occupy managerial, commanding or influential positions, such administrators, managers, medical doctors, lawyers.

Describing the woman as the main pillar of the society, the SDO nonetheless ensure same to train their children in the fear of the Lord and to ensure that their husbands do not stray from home.

In his speech, the Delegate of Women Empowerment and the family said the occasion provides a proper forum, to evaluate the successes or failures of the millennium development goal. Like the SDO before him, he decried violence against women. The speeches were followed by march pass.
