Women of the Gendarmerie corps
The women of the Gendarmerie corps were amongst the hundreds of women groups that clustered in their Headquarter at the Camp Yayap neighbourhood for part two of the international women’s Day.
The heavily attended event saw an unannounced guest; a heavy downpour which the attendees interpreted to mean a torrent of blessings to grace the occasion.
The Secretary of State at the Ministry of Defense in charge of the Gendarmerie, Jean Baptiste Bokam expressed admiration for the degree of mobilization and cautioned the women to merit promotion by being efficient.
Responding to his address, the women's representative expressed gratitude to the Minister for promoting more women to higher ranking positions some of them being Legion commander, company commanders and Brigade commanders, though they wish more women could be appointed director.
At the end of the celebration, these women pledged to be more diligent and contribute to the resounding success of a corps that has been very active in upholding the security and sovereignty of the state.
Dinning and winning continued throughout the evening, as the women had a taste of the variety of African and western dishes served on the occasion.
