An association that will serve as an intermediary between wood and forest exploiters on one hand and the government on the other have been created.
The association has as its principal goal to encourage competition and private investments in the sector.
The wood and forest inter-professional association saw the light of day after a two-day constitutive general assembly meeting marked by heated debates to elect the pioneer executive members.
A consensus was finally arrived at with Nyeck Nyeck Sylvestre le Bell elected as president to head a bureau of four places over regional commissions of about 15 members.
The team that has a two-year renewable mandate will serve as a channel through which government will boost the activities of the sector which is vital for development.
The director General of the Economy and Planning of public Investments, in the Ministry of the Economy, planning and Regional Development, Dieudonne Bondoma Yokono who presided over the installation ceremony on behalf of the Minister said that, with the association in place, government’s assistance will be better coordinator to development the sector rendering it lucrative.
The new association is expected to work in collaboration with the competitive value chain project of the ministry of the Economy, Planning and Regional Development.
