In the Conference Room in Bonanjo, administrative headquarters in Douala, Paul Naseri Bea, the prefect of the Department of Wouri gave a statement on the recent accident which occurred in Ndokotti.
He revealed that the truck mentioned was carrying a container of 20 feet left a sawmill located in the front of the Guinness factory at Ndokoti destined for the Autonomous Port of Douala. Descending the Tunnel at Ndokoti, he lost brakes and drove towards the bikes positioned there.
The accident led to the death of four persons including two on the spot and two others after their evacuation to the Nlogbaba district hospital and Laquinitie hospital. It should also be noted that eleven bikes were completely crushed. However, research continues actively in different health facilities for the identification and possible support of the wounded.
Faced with this situation, he indicated that the following measures have been put in place: We have instructed the Deputy Prefect and the Mayor of Douala 3 to evacuate sellers from Ndokoti Tunnel and we have already banned trade at the level of the Tunnel.
He went further to state that other measures will be taken in the coming days to be able to secure our population.
