The structure which was created by the association “REPCAM” was official opened last April 8, 2016.

Within the backdrop of offering a convivial family set-up for detained children and their parents as well as detained mothers and their children, the association, Relais Enfants-Parents du Cameroun (REPCAM) last Friday April 8, 2016 at the Yaounde Central Prison officially opened a home meant to provide comfort to mothers and children under detention.

While opening the structure, the Administrator of the Yaounde Central Prison, Landry Etoundi lauded the efforts of REPCAM in ensuring that women and children in prison experience that special warmth which comes when spending time with family members. He promised that the prison administration will use the structure for the good of those who highly need it.

The President of REPCAM, Claire Mimboe Ndi Samba said her association is out to maintain a family atmosphere for women and children under detention. She added that it is a home for intimate discussions between children and their parents which will favour their psychological wellbeing and protection.

The structure will also play host to the training of women in handicraft such as tailoring and craftsmanship. Special programmes for prison minors will be organised in the centre every Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday.
