"Rescue my husband", were the words that came out from a heavily pregnant woman who helplessly watched his husband being swept away by rainwater last Friday in the Simbock neighbourhood Yaounde.

At about 5:30pm, the 32-year-old mechanic whose name CT got as Guy fondly called "Guyso", is reported to have slipped while crossing the culvert to his workshop after removing the small wooden bridge across the culvert for fear that rain water might carry it to an unknown destination.

According to eye witness account, able men immediately mounted a manhunt for him during the heavy rains to no avail. After searching for over an hour in the culverts from Simbock roundabout where he fell, the body was finally found around the military base in Simbock and taken to the Yaounde Central Hospital mortuary. The previous day, a child was rescued from rainwater in the same area, said eye witnesses. Some said the decease rescued a child a month ago from the same spot. He leaves behind a heavily pregnant woman, a son and family members to ponder over the dramatic death.
