The premises of the Yaounde V Council were exceptionally busy on Thursday November 8, 2012 with the commissioning of members of the Executive Bureau of Local Animation and Development Committees (CADEL) in the Yaounde V Subdivision.

The commissioning equally marked the effective take off of the local animation and development committees in the subdivision.

Speaking during the occasion, the Mayor of Yaounde V Sub divisional Council, Claudine Ngono Etoundi Ayissi, said the executive bureau is the locomotive of the local animation and development committee. Each committee received equipment to enable them carry out the development of their areas. Apart from the equipment, each committee also received FCFA 150,000, making a total of FCFA 3.3 million.

Local Animation and Development Committees will serve as platforms for exchange and dialogue through which short and long term development projects will be debated upon by inhabitants of the same localities. In the local committees, the people will have the opportunity to express their priorities for development which will be recorded and forwarded by the executive to the municipal hierarchy. The 22 local development committees will come out with community development plans for the subdivision.

The local committees are fruits of 22 elective general assemblies of local committees in all the neighbourhoods and villages. The Yaounde V Council will train 80 First Aid workers in the different local development committees in the days ahead. The event took place in the presence of top officials of Mfoundi Division.
