Recently, internet users in Yaounde have been witnessing serious interruptions in their internet services. The connection which was accessible until around 8am suddenly deteriorated with no accessibility at all.

The main supplier of Internet service (ISP) Camtel, the incumbent operator, Manager of the submarine cable of optical fiber that connects other operators to the network via the Internet FAKO key broadband had no network. This problem lasted several days and disrupted the quality of Internet service of this operator.

For other ISPs, the same problem was also experienced by their subscribers. At Orange for example, the users could connect to the network through Internet key, but they has no access to the Web.

This was the same case for cyber-cafes using the Livebox of the operator. Mobile Internet 3G operator Nexttel also experienced problems. There was no way to access the network after data connection was enabled.

Companies like Cyberlink, holder of several Internet cafes in the capital, lost clients for several hours due to these interruptions.

Only Yoomee subscribers were able to stay in contact with the world. No press release was published by different companies affected by this quality of service.

This clearly reflects the poor quality of service that customers suffer in the absence of a genuine monitoring of the national ICT sector suffer.
