Inhabitants of the nation’s capital Yaounde have experienced the first signs of the start of the rainy season. Yaounde city dwellers woke up on Friday, 13th February 2015 to an exceptionally cold and muddy morning after the heavy downpour from the previous day.

The rain which announced itself with dark nimbus clouds in the early hours of the afternoon fell for over two hours nonstop. While people rushed to get shelter, others had no other choice than desperately walking in it.

In the meantime, those with umbrellas paved their way through the tiny droplets of rain to their destinations.

Most inhabitants were happy with the downpour saying it has reduced the dust in the environment. Others however complained of the cold caused by the rain.

The heavy downpour announcing the start of the rainy season is not only characteristic to Yaounde.

Last weekend at Ngoumou, south of Yaounde, the locality experienced a heavy shower which caused a lot of material damage especially at the Hospital Centre in the area.
