Youth Affairs Minister to visit Buea prison

The visiting Minister of Youths Affairs and Civic Education, Mounouna Fotso, to the South West Region to launch this year’s Youth Day activities in Tiko, Fako Division, is expected to also take him to the Buea central prison where a good number of youths are serving jail terms.

Discussions during the visit, sources informed, will be a focus on the problems and plights of these young inmates. The Minister will during his visit to the prison also donate some symbolic gifts to the prisoners.

This, according to South West Regional Delegate of Youths Affairs and Civic Education, Mrs. Lyonga, is part of the Ministry’s efforts to allocate same priority and interest in the promotion of the wellbeing of young Cameroonians.

The two-day working visit is also going to take the minister round to some areas of youth-centered activities. Remote communities that feel abandoned will attract the visiting Government official’s attention particularly in the Tiko Subdivision where much is expected to be doled out, Mrs. Lyonga disclosed.

The support will stretch across various sectors including livestock, agriculture, business engineering, youth animation to cite a few.
