The Etougebe Baptist School (EBS), Standard International School (SIS) and Young Women Christian Association (YWCA) School of Yaounde have jointly celebrated the 49th edition of the National Youth Day ahead of the official date, 11th February.

The three private schools situated in the Etougebe neighbourhood organised activities this Friday 6th January 2015 to commemorate the youth day.

School authorities explained that celebrating the National Youth Day prior to the official date is in order to make all pupils feel involved since not everyone will be opportune to match on the 11th of February.

In this light, pupils from the three schools carried out diverse activities including sports, march-past, singing and dancing, in the presence of a three-man jury.

One of the members of jury, Anne Mukum explained that celebrating the youth day a few days before the official date is already tradition in all three schools.

With these in mind, the pupils presented heavily-worded songs on patriotism and national unity, as well as powerful traditional and ballet dances which thrilled the audience and passers-by.
