Cameroonian athletes shine at African Youth Games

Cameroonian athletes taking part at the African Youth Games in Botswana have put on a good show after winning five medals to put the country at the 12th position out of 53 countries with just a day to the end of the competition.

Cameroon took part in the African Youth Games in just five disciplines (athletics, weightlifting, judo, karate and taekwondo) with a total of 19 athletes.

Cameroon is currently ranked 12th on the classification table with a day to the end of the competition.

Meanwhile, Egypt is first with 34 gold medals, 14 silver and 24 in bronze making it 74 medals in all.

At the bottom of the table is occupied by 15 countries that are still to win a medal.

The African Youth Games is an international multi-sport event held every four years to complement the current All-Africa Games.

The prvious edition took place in Rabat-Morocco.
