The President of the Republic, H.E. Paul Biya has created a NAtional Committee for the preparation of the 2016 and 2019 African Cup of Nations.
The committee created by presidential decree No 2014/389 of 3rd October 2014 has as mission to define the strategic orientations and plan the activities that will be carried out in preparations for the female 201¬6 and male 2019 AFCONs.
The national committee headed by the Prime Minister, Head of Government, answerable to the President also has as objectives the following;
• To draft a plan of projects to be realized in preparation for the AFCON 2016 and 2019.
• To elaborate a programme schedule to be executed for the 2016 and 2019 AFCONs.
• To coordinate administrative action and those of partners.
• To follow-up the execution of these projects.
• To canvass for sponsorship and partners to finance the AFCONs.
• To carry out other missions given the Head State in relation to the AFCON 2016 and 2019.
In effect, the Prime Minister will be directly assisted by the Ministers, some Government Delegates and the President of FECAFOOT and other football and socio-cultural associations.
The committee will meet once every three months and will be dissolved after they deposit their final report which is expected at most three months after the end of the 2019 AFCON.
The organizing committee of the 2016 and 2019 AFCON will be created by a specific text by the President of the Republic.
The Presidential decree signed by the President is segmented into three chapters and fifteen articles.
