These facilities will be built towards the preparation for the African Cup of Nations 2019 which will be organized by Cameroon.

The information was revealed by Tombi A Roko Sidiki, Secretary-General of the Cameroon football Federation Friday, October 17, 2014 on the sidelines of a seminar for presidents of professional clubs of Cameroon on the procedures for the licensing of the CAF in Douala.

In the perspective toward the Africa cup of Nations 2019 that Cameroon will host, 36 training stadiums which meets the international standards will soon be built across the country.

7 in Yaounde and its surroundings, 7 in Douala, 6 in the Western Region (former Stade Omnisport de Bafoussam, Stade de Bamendji, 1 in Mbouda, 1 in Bandjoun...), 6 in the South West (Buea and Limbe) and 6 in Garoua...

Participants at the seminar regretted the concentration of these future facilities in some large cities instead of targeting cities that are home to professional football clubs.

But the Secretary General of the Cameroon football Federation justified these choices by the fact that these sports facilities should be in or close to the cities chosen to host the Africa cup of Nations 2019, including Yaoundé, Douala, Bafoussam, Garoua and Limbe.

However, he announced another program (Pendis) which will allow the Ministry of Sports and Physical Education to build stadiums of proximity throughout the national territory. These infrastructures will first emerge in all the capitals of the Region before spreading into the 58 departments of Cameroon.

The Cameroon football Federation also intends to build modern playgrounds in some cities of Cameroon to complete those built under the Programme for national development of sports infrastructure (Pendis).

Several Club presidents present in the room, like Franck Happi, president of the Union Sportive de Douala, wished that once constructed, the management of these infrastructures be entrusted to dealers for better maintenance.
