The Director of the Mission for regulating consumer products supplies (Mirap), Cyprien Bamzok Ntol, led, 1 November 2014, a delegation of officials of some specialized public authorities (agriculture, fisheries, public works, economy, health...), to the market Foumbot, one of the largest markets of fresh food and vegetables in Cameroon, located in the region of the West of the country.

During this tour to Foumbot, Mr. Bamzok Ntol announced that the group he was leading is currently conducting a feasibility study, for the establishment of a national system of collection, conditioning, storage and supply to the national market in consumer products.

This device is to be built around two large basins of production of food products in Cameroon, namely the communities of Belabo and Foumbot, respectively located in the East and West of Cameroon.

Thanks to this device in gestation, explained the Director of Mirap, this public structure hopes to 'improve the collection, quality and time of preservation of the products, so that there are always products so that any economic operator, any consumer has the opportunity to take possession of the goods.

As a reminder, according to Mirap, Cameroon loses 25% of its agricultural production due to lack of storage infrastructure. With its future collection device, storage, packaging and supply, Mirap should substantially increase the volume of food products made available by Cameroonian households, in the context of its periodic markets, whose volume was estimated at 7454 tonnes of products in 2012.
