Youth Minister urges young people to denounce Boko Haram

In an interview with the Minister of Youth and Civic Education by Cameroon Tribune daily, published on Tuesday, February 10, he calls on young people to support the head of State and the defence forces of Cameroon to engage in the fight against Boko Haram.

On the eve of the celebration of the 49th edition of the National Youth Day, Bindoung Mkpatt, Minister of Youth and Civic Education made an important remark on the youth, "we want young people to stay vigilant and on guard against Boko Haram.

They should continue to support the head of State and defence forces in the fight against those who undermine the safety and serenity of our country", said the Member of the Government in an interview with Cameroon Tribune.

The Minister invited young people to continue to "believe in their country and its potential." At the time when our country is engaged in a vast programme to ensure a better future, it is necessary for young people, to block the way to things which may jeopardise the smooth conduct and the ambitious policy of the head of State which aims to make Cameroon an emerging country by the year 2035", added the Minister.

He expressed his desire to see the youth put their dynamism together to "support efforts by Governments to put in place all conditions necessary for socio-economic growth in the country and the advent of the exemplary Republic".

According to the Minister of Youth and Civic Education, the efforts made by the Government under the "high energy" of the head of State to ensure a better development of the youth are important. "The State spends 1/5 of the national budget for education and training on young people. Schools, colleges and high schools are created, built and equipped throughout the country.

At the level of higher education, colleges and universities are created in large numbers, in order to bring training structures to students. He refused to subscribe to the analysis of some observers that, because of insecurity, the Cameroonian youth is a powder keg that can explode at any time. "The youth of our country are basically peaceful", he averred.
