Victoria Oil & Gas has announced the completion of a 1.4 km pipeline in Douala, Cameroon, which utilised horizontal directional drilling during installation.

The 400 mm diameter pipeline, completed by Victoria Oil & Gas subsidiary Gaz du Cameroun, required horizontal directional drilling for a 100 m section of the installation. The remaining 1.3 km was installed via open trench methods.

According to Victoria Oil & Gas, with one of the power stations located near a main arterial route, the most challenging aspect of the installation was traffic management.

Work on the pipeline was completed ahead of schedule, with the target completion date for installation and commissioning of the project’s total 50 MW the end of March 2015.

Victoria Oil & Gas Executive Chairman Kevin Foo said the pipeline was completed alongside a metering plant, with the assets servicing the power stations at Logbaba and Bassa.

With the pipeline now ‘gassed up’, the final stage of the project was the installation and commissioning of the power plants’ gas-fired generators.
