24 finalists
Cameroon is the first of 24 finalists to arrive in Canada for this summer’s FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015™. The African vice-champions landed in Vancouver, British Columbia on Friday 15 May, a full 24 days ahead of their first group match at BC Place on 8 June.
Cameroon will train in Vancouver under the guidance of national coach Enow Ngachu, who has the third-longest tenure of all head coaches at this year’s final competition. Their training schedule includes a friendly match against club side North Shore Renegades on 17 May.
“Our main objective will be to do better than we did in 2012 during the Olympic Games,” said coach Enow Ngachu. “We know it’s going to be very tough for us, but Ecuador and Switzerland are also here for the first time, so there can be surprises.”
Already this year, Cameroon is unbeaten in three international matches, including an away 3-2 win over African rivals Côte d’Ivoire on 10 May. Both Cameroon and Côte d’Ivoire are looking forward to their first participation in a FIFA Women’s World Cup™ finals.
The 24 national teams arrive in Canada between 15 May and 5 June, with the opening group matches across Canada on 6 June (Group A in Edmonton), 7 June (Group B in Ottawa), 8 June (Group C in Vancouver and Group D in Winnipeg) and 9 June (Group E in Montréal and Group F in Moncton).
