Ossey Olivier Litumba Pinzi, Head of AfDB inspection mission to Cameroon.

“I think Cameroon stands a good chance to host the African Development Bank General Assembly either in 2017, 2018 or 2019. We have been visiting different sites notably the Yaounde Conference Centre and hostels. As far as the Conference Centre is concern, I think that is the most important part of the mission. So far we are impressed because we need a lot of space. You know that the African Development Bank General Assembly is a world class meeting. We are going to have between 4,000 to 5,000 people.

That means a lot of people will be coming and it would require a lot of space and rooms in the hotels. Maybe that is where things will be tough for Cameroon especially for Yaounde but I believe that things are moving because Cameroon is preparing for two African Cup of Nations and other events which means that hotels are going to be build. We are here to cover a period of 2017, 2018 and 2019 and maybe 2020 too. So if you take into account that span, Cameroon stands a good chance.

Chad, India, Ghana and Equatorial Guinea are also contesting to host the AfDB General Assembly. We have been in Equatorial Guinea already and from here we are going to Ghana and then India later”.
