An Egyptian fair opened in Douala, the Cameroonian economic capital, on April 27 . According to its organisers, this commercial event will take place until 19 May, on the eve of the celebration of Cameroon’s Independence Day.

For three weeks, the population of Douala will be able to discover, at this fair, the know-how of Egyptian enterprises and artisans in the area of furniture, traditional clothing, jewellery, decoration, etc.

Cameroon and Egypt are linked through a trade partnership since 1977, which was revised on 24 October 2000. However, despite the existence of this agreement meant to boost the exchanges between the two countries, the trade between Cameroon and Egypt is not the most thriving.

Proof of this, according to statistics from the Egyptian Ministry of Industry, Commerce and SME; the exchanges between this country and the six member-States of the CEMAC, community in which Cameroon is the driving country, peaked at USD 17.43 million (approximately FCfa 9.5 billion) during the first quarter of 2015.
