The edition planned for February 14 is preceded by a tour of the ten Regions, carried out by a flame of hope. It made a stop Wednesday at the Ahmadou Ahidjo stadium in Yaoundé
As promised by the organizers, the 2015 edition of the mythical race will have many innovations: tour of the country by the flame of hope, fair, concerts and popular attractions.
This Wednesday, January 14 in Yaoundé, the flame was lit at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium in Yaoundé, and will make a tour of the country beginning with Bamenda (Northwest).
According to Hamad Kalkaba Malboum, the president of the National Olympic and Sports Committee of Cameroon said on Tuesday, January 20, the leaders of the Cameroon Federation of Athletics, the Ministry of Sports and Physical Education, and Guinness Cameroon, historic sponsor of the event, will hold a new meeting in order to lubricate the machinery of the organization.
Launched in 1973 by the Guinness company and renamed the "Race of Hope" in 1996 at the initiative of Colonel Kalkaba Malboum, the test has been taken not without difficulty by the Cameroonian Athletics Federation in 2005.
Meanwhile, it has seen some significant participation such as Timothy Leku Lekunze and other figures like Reginald Esuka. The women, whose first participation dates back to 1983, also had their star on the chariot of the gods: Sarah Etonge.
