Given 20 days to submit plan of action and budget within strict respect for CAF recommendations.
The Minister of Sports and Physical Education, Bidoung Mkpatt on Friday, May 13, installed into office members of the organising committee of the 2016 female African Cup of Nations to take place in Cameroon from November 19th to December 3rd, this year.
Speaking on the occasion at the Yaounde sports complex, the minister urged the members of the committee to set to work immediately as he gave very commission 20 days to submit a plan of action and budget. He also urged them to strictly respect the recommendations of the Confederation of African football concerning the hosting of the competition.
He said the hosting of the competition falls within the policy of greater achievements of the Head of State which has to do with promoting the image of the country within and outside the country and will therefore be an opportunity to show case Cameroon’s tourist potential.
He therefore called on committee members to define strategies to make the event memorable in Cameroon saying an idea box has been set up at the level of the directorate of the tournament at the Yaounde Sports complex for anyone to make suggestions.
He said while mobilising effort towards the successful organisation of the event, effort should also be made on the sporting side to win the competition on home soil in Cameroon so as to make Cameroonians happy as he said football unites people.
To demonstrate the importance the government attaches to the event, the commissioning ceremony was attended by seven government ministers namely; the minister of Arts and culture, Narcisse Mouelle Kombi, the minister of public Health André Mama Fouda, the Minister of Higher Education, Fame Ndongo, the Minister of Women Empowerment and the Family, Marie Therese Abena Ondoa, the minister of Secondary Education, Ngalle Bibehe Jean Ernest and the minister of Communication, Issa Tchiroma Bakary.
