Elizabeth Cudjoe scored a lone goal as Ghana defeated Cameroon 1-0 in their last group game at the ongoing Africa Women’s Championships in Windhoek, Namibia.

Cudjoe punished a defensive error and found a loose ball to slot it past the exposed Cameroonian custodian Annette Ngo Ndom to give the Black Queens a much needed lead in the 52nd minute.

The West Africans, who had already qualified for the semifinals, sought an equaliser through efforts by Raissa Feudjio and Grace Ngouk but they did not amount to much.

Ghana pressed more upfront in the second half as they controlled possession in the midfield but Ndom was spectacular in goal to keep the Black Queens in check. Eventual woman-of-the-match Cudjoe had several chances at goal but the Cameroonian defence kept her at bay.

Today’s win ensured Ghana amassed four points tied with South Africa, who thrashed Algeria 5-1 in their last Group B match, but the Banyana Banyana qualified to the last four on goal difference.

Despite Saturday's loss, Cameroon lead Group B with six points with South Africa second on four points.

Ghana and Algeria are out of the continental tournament that is a qualifier to next year’s Fifa Women’s World Cup in Canada.
