CAFA Donation
Footballers from Bamenda currently playing abroad under the umbrella, Charity by Abakwa Footballers Abroad (CAFA) last Friday June 5, 2015 paid a visit to MISSPA Orphanage in Nkwen Mile 5 in order to share with the orphans at the centre.
CAFA, an association formed on April 1, 2015, has an objective to pay attention to the less privilege in the society especially the Orphans and vulnerable Children.
The CAFA delegation donated items such as food items, cloths, toiletries and footballs to the over 135 orphans at the MISSPA Orphanage Centre Mile 5 Nkwen.
On arrival at the MISSPA Orphanage, CAFA was given a tour of the orphanage by the Secretary of MISSPA, Joseph Fongang Latala before they handed over the gifts for the orphans.
In his speech, Emma Mimba a player with SC Vianese in Portugal assured the orphans that this gesture was not going to be the last as CAFA intends to continue same in the coming years and even do better.
Accompanying the CAFA delegation, Bamenda hip hop artist, Magasco promised to help the children at the orphanage who are interested in music to achieve their dreams.
Meanwhile, in his welcome speech, the secretary of MISSPA Joseph Fongang gave a brief rundown on how the orphanage was founded. According to him, the Orphanage Centre was founded in February 2005 by Pastor Manuel Rengifo Perez and Mrs Maria Patrocinio Reina Valle two missionaries from Spain.
He also pointed out some problems faced by the centre like the supply of portable water, sports equipment, physical education and sports infrastructures, new beds and mattresses, clothing and school uniforms, modern toilets, books for Library, medical treatment of children , which are all urgent needs by the centre.
He revealed that 25 students from the centre are involved in the ongoing GCE examinations: 25 for the Ordinary Level and 5 for the Advanced Level, meanwhile, 11 sat for the First School Leaving Certificate. He also said that MISSPA dreams to one day create a university in order for the orphans to continue their education at the centre.
On her part, the Matron of MISSPA, Celina Musa Bih thanked CAFA for thinking about the orphans at MISSPA and also wished them more success in their football careers.
To Emmanuel Benjamin Nchotie, he was very delighted and happy for the gesture by CAFA. “I am more than happy today. I pray to God that I will forever remember this day,” Nchotie said happily.
The CAFA delegation comprised of Emma Mimba from SC Vianese(Portugal), Collins Fai from Dinamo Bucharesti of Romania, Bertrand Bong from Bahrain, Abenego Tembeng from Algeria. Meanwhile, Lewis Enoh from Sporting Portugal, Anderson Eyong (France) and Walters Menkiawi (Belgium) were absent.
