African Player of the Year 2014: CMR grabs four spots

Choupo-Moting, Aboubakar, Mbia and Souleymane Moussa of Coton Sport grab spots in the nominations for the 2014 African Player of the Year with the latter in the 2014 African Player of the Year category based in Africa.

The Confederation Africaine de Football (CAF) announced the nominees on Thursday, 6 November 2014.

Twenty-five (25) players have been nominated for the topmost Player of the Year, and 20 for the Player of the Year (Based in Africa) category.

The winners of the two categories will be decided by votes from the Head Coaches/Technical Directors of the National Associations affiliated to CAF.

The Awards Gala will take place on Thursday, 8 January 2015 in Lagos, Nigeria.

Ivorian Yaya Toure was crowned African Player of the Year for the past three years whilst Mohamed Aboutreika of Egypt was named African Player of the Year (Based in Africa) last year.
