All university games opens in Douala

The 17th edition of the all university games opens on the campus of the University of Douala on Saturday, May 3, 2014.

During the one week sports and cultural jamboree, three thousand one hundred and forty three athletes from over twenty public and private higher institutions of learning will exhibit their talents.

Two days into the event some athletes have begun grabbing medals. A total of 9 gold medals were won in athletics alone, with the newly created University of Bamenda obtaining gold and bronze in the women's shot put in their greatest opening performance ever in the competition.
