Antoine Bell appointed member of 2019 AFCON committee

Joseph Antoine Bell who joined in the race for the presidency of the Cameroon Football Federation has been invited by the Prime Minister to attend the 2nd session of the structure created October 3, 2014 by a decree of the President of the Republic.

Joseph Antoine Bell has thus joined the National Committee for the preparation for the Africa Nations Cup that Cameroon will hosts in 2016 for the (ladies) and 2019 for the (gentlemen).


The former goalkeeper was invited precisely on the 6th of January, 2015 by the Secretary General of the services of the Prime Minister to take part in the second session of the Comip-Can. Bell will work alongside other personalities from various backgrounds and administrations already selected for this mission.


On the antennae of Radio Sport Info on Wednesday (January 14, 2015) morning, Joseph Antoine Bell confirmed the information, and thanked Paul Biya, who invited him on board this Committee. "I want to say Thank you for such recognition from the head of State", he said.


Joseph Antoine Bell then referred to his mission: "I think the next two AFCONs on our soil are very important events hence we must take it as an invitation from Cameroon to the African youth." This is an opportunity for us to do something for the youth and our children. I deem it as hosting the birthday of your children with their friends. We are therefore, required to provide the best possible reception, so that their friends will appreciate how we lived with him.

Comip-Can was created by Presidential Decree on October 3, 2014 and it is headed by the Prime Minister. It must define the strategic directions and action plan to be implemented in the context of the preparation of the said competitions.


The committee is required to provide a portfolio of projects to be carried out towards these competitions, seek finances, develop a detailed chronogram for operations to be implemented and coordinate the actions of public administrations and private partners.


It will however be dissolved on completion and presentation of report, which will be three months after the African Cup of Nations in 2019.
