Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is looking to bring in additional striking options and has perhaps wisely earmarked a move for soon to be out of contract Chelsea man Samuel Eto’o according to Football Direct News.
With both Lukas Podolski and Theo Walcott spending large chunks of the season out injured Wenger has been forced to use Olivier Giroud to excess, leaving the French forward to appear exhausted which in turn led to an inevitable period of poor form which the 28 year old has now recovered from, a move for Eto’o may an intelligent one to consider.
Clearly the 33 year old will demand a hefty salary but as he wouldn’t cost a penny to sign such demands would be less of a financial burden for Arsenal to undertake.
Eto’o may have had an up and down campaign but his return of nine goals from 16 Premier League starts is decent enough, better still when you consider that total includes six that came against top opposition including Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham and Man United.
Whilst clearly Wenger is not well known for bringing in aging talents he may feel that this is too good an short term opportunity to ignore.
Eto’o has of course achieved great success in a career that has seen the Cameroon international bag 303 club career goals as well as a host of honours including four domestic titles and three Champions League triumphs.
