The event which took place at Muea, Buea over the weekend brought together all the sons and daughters of Ashong village in Momo Division of the North West Region living in Buea, Tiko, Kumba and Limbe in the South West Region.They came to rejoice over the victory of their son who came second in the senior male category of this year's Mount Cameroon Race of Hope.
Chanting songs of glory to God Almighty, the village development watch dog, Ashong Cultural and Development Association (ASCUDA) showered blessings on Tiku Divine for bringing them joy. They prayed for him to bring them more trophies in future races. Discussions during the gathering centered on how ASCUDA will combine resources to see that Divine is exposed to other national and international competitions.
The members, at the end of the deliberation, unanimously agreed to support Divine on all his undertakings. Divine's wish to form an athletics club in Ashong village was overwhelmingly accepted for more glory for the village. ASCUDA promised to work tirelessly to ensure that Divine partake in national and international races. He shall be equally provided with funds, logistics and updated information about any recent happening in the world of sport.
He was third in 2012 and had occupied the 16th position in his first ever attempt in 2010. Divine, aged 27, started his mountaineering in 2008. This was at the Mount Batibo Anog. Taking to Cameroon Tribune at the end of the event, he appealed to the government to assist him and other young Cameroonians to the international scene for them to bring glory to the nation
