Asian outing pulls Cameroon up FIFA ranking

Cameroon has moved up one place in the April FIFA ranking thanks to their recent outing in Asia where the Lions beat Indonesia and Thailand, 1-0 and 302 respectively.

The FIFA Coca-Cola ranking released Thursday April 9, 2015 shows some notable changes with Cameroon occupying the 48th position one place up from the ranking released in March 2015.

The African hierarchy is dominated by Algeria, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Tunisia and Senegal for the top five, while at the global level, Belgium climbs on the third position with Germany till on the first position, followed by Argentina.

The only change observed in the world top 10 is Switzerland and Spain entering the top ten at the expense of France and Italy going down respectively.

According to the ranking procedures, a total of 135 ‘A’ international matches were taken into account for the latest edition of the global ladder, taking the total number of games evaluated so far this year to 217.

Of the new matches, 25 were qualifiers for EURO 2016, 26 were 2018 World Cup qualifiers (CONCACAF, AFC) and 84 were friendlies games.

The next FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking will be published on 7 May 2015.
