It is prepare for the upcoming sub regional competition to take place in the Republic of Congo in the month of July. According to the National Technical director for athletics, Michel Nkollo, only 15 will be retained for the expedition to Congo as prescribed by the Ministry of Sports and Physical Education.

Whereas, he would have loved to have many athletes in the training camp, even some of those who did not obtain the required minimum record to qualify for the competition saying it would be hard for the shortlisted athletes to train alone without company or opposition though an individual sport. The training camp which began on Monday June 24, will run up to July 8th.

There are more competitions in the pipeline in athletics with the Francophonie Games coming up in September. Meanwhile Apes Ekanga of INJS athletic club and Hamadou Adam of Cameroon Sport club will be travelling to Russia next week to take part in the world athletics championship. They are the current flag bearers of athletics having been dominating the university games and civilian competitions in the discipline.
