A brace from striker Samuel Eto'o Fils proved vital as Cameroon beat Togo 2-1 on Saturday in their 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifier on Saturday in Yaoundé.

Eto'o scored in each half as the Indomitable Lions cruised to their second win of the qualifying series whilst Dove Wome found the net in between for the visitors in the Group I encounter.

Cameroon, a notable absentee from the recent Orange Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa gave their fans some cause to cheer by snatching the maximum points in the close encounter.

Three minutes to recess, Eto'o on the books of Russian big spenders Anzhi broke the deadlock from a penalty and the crowd at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium responded with a loud roar.

But the lead will last for only three minutes before Dove Wome restored parity in added-on time, to keep the tie even at half time.

The Togolese without star-striker Emmanuel Sheyi Adebayor gave their hosts so much to worry about with Komlan Amewou leading raids upfront. After several unsuccessful attempts by both teams to score, Eto'o proved his worth with the winner eight minutes from time. The result means Togo are still without a win after three games.

Cameroon leads the pack with six points, two more than Libya, who play DR Congo in Kinshasa on Sunday. DR Congo has three points and Togo just a point in that order.
