Bafana Bafana go into this weekend's clash with Cameroon knowing that the Indomitable Lions have only beaten them on one previous occasion.
Shakes Mashaba's men currently find themselves rooted to the bottom of Group M in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, with just one point from their opening two games against Gambia and Mauritania.
Now, as South Africa look to keep their hopes of going to Gabon next year alive, they will be aware that they need good results over the course of the next week.
Bafana, who jetted out to Cameroon today, have not faced their next opponents since their 3-0 win over them at the Afcon 1996, and have not lost to them since being beaten 2-1 in a friendly back in 1992.
Previous Meetings
7/7/92 - SA (Khumalo) 1-0 Cameroon
9/7/92 - SA (Onana OG) 1-2 Cameroon (Ewane 2)
11/7/92 - SA (P Masinga, B Masinga) 2-2 Cameroon (Pagal, Ewane)
3/12/94 - SA (Motale) 1-1 Cameroon (Maboang)
13/1/96 - SA (P Masinga, Williams, Moshoeu) 3-0 Cameroon
19/11/08 - SA (Modise 2, Parker) 3-2 Cameroon (Kome, Tchoyi)
10/01/15 - Cameroon (Aboubacar) 1-1 SA (Vilakazi)
The fact that Bafana have lost just one of their seven games against Cameroon will no doubt serve as a confidence booster for Mashaba's side; however, this weekend's clash is the first meeting of the two on the Indomitable Lions' home turf.
Defeat in either game will be a big blow to Bafana's chances of qualifying for Afcon 2017, and losses in both would put them to bed completely.
