The finals in the dance sport discipline took place on Sunday with the ballet group of the University of Yaounde 1 emerging overall champion. They won a total of nine medals; 4 for gold, 3 in silver and 2 in bronze.
They are followed at a distance by the Detente dance club which won three silver and one bronze. X-tra dance group came third with two medals ahead of INJS in the fourth position win only three silver medals. The dance group from the University of Yaounde I won gold in the standard dance, Cameroonian dance and break dance competitions, while Detente came first in the modern society modern dance, Latin and modern society dance. X-tra dance group dominated the show mix tape and new style dancing competitions.
The finals which took place in a lively and jovial atmosphere, was presided by the Inspector general at the Ministry of Sports and Physical Education, representing the minister. She showered praises on the federation for the success of the event. Leandre Assila, who was on his very first test as president of the Cameroon Dance sport and Related Rhythms federation, expressed his satisfaction that peace had returned between the federation and the sports ministry.
He announced that the master's dance competition will be coming up in the month of December and that the federation will also organise a training seminar for officials of the federation. Trophies and medals were awarded to winners in each category.
