Benoit Assou-Ekotto reacts to Tottenham release as only Benoit Assou-Ekotto can.
Cameroon defender Benoit Assou-Ekotto has left Tottenham Hotspur after being released from his contract, the Premier League club said in a statement – and the Cameroon international appeared to react in rather humorous fashion.
Assou-Ekotto, part of Cameroon's squad at last year's World Cup, has not featured for Spurs this season, having spent last term on loan at Queens Park Rangers.
The 30-year-old left back joined Tottenham in 2006 and made 204 appearances, featuring in the club's run to the quarter-finals of the Champions League in 2010-11.
Assou-Ekotto is renowned for his apathy to playing football.
“Why did I come here [to England]? For a job. A career is only 10, 15 years.
It's only a job. Yes, it's a good, good job and I don't say that I hate football but it's not my passion,” said the former Lens player during an interview with the Guardian.
So, his reaction to his release from his contract with Spurs, which can be seen below, may not come as a surprise to some.
