Brahimi beats Cameroon duo for Most Promising Talent of the Year Award

Algeria midfielder Yacine Brahimi was named the Most Promising Talent at the 2014 Glo-CAF Awards Gala held on Thursday, 8 January 2015 in Lagos, Nigeria.

Brahimi fended off opposition from Cameroonian duo, Clinton N’jie and Vincent Aboubakar to win the coveted prize for the emerging talent of African football.

The 24-year old had a stellar churning out some fine performances for both club and country.

Brahimi is a member of the new generation taking Algeria to dizzy heights. The 24-year old opened his account for new club, FC Porto, with a hat-trick in the opening match of the UEFA Champions League against BATE Borisov of Belarus.

He was yet again on target in the 2-0 over Athletic Bilbao. With the national team, he scored the icing on the cake as Algeria beat South Korea 4-2 in their only win at the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

In the Orange AFCON 2015 qualifiers, the offensive midfielder is a regular with ‘Les Fennecs’ making over 300 minutes in playing time and two goals as Algeria qualified for the final tournament with two games to spare.

His performance with Granada saw him being the best African Player in La Liga for the 2013-2014 season.
