Côte d’Ivoire came from behind to seal a 2-1 win over Cameroon in Niamey on Thursday, in match played on the day 2 of the 2015 U17 African Championship.

A goal down after 3 minutes of play, Haïdara Soualiho’s boys left it late to fight back as they did against South Africa in their opening match, scoring twice in the final 15 minutes of the game. A crucial win that revived Côte d’Ivoire hopes of a semi-final berth.

Aboubacar Kouyaté and his teammates are now level on points with Group B leaders Mali, who were held to a 2-2 draw by the Amajimbos a bit earlier on the same ground.

Christian Nguidjol put the Cameroonians ahead straight away with a 3rd minute opener, while the Ivoirians scored the equaliser in the 78th minute through substitute N’Guessan Kouadio before netting a 85th minute winner, thanks to Idrissa Doumbia from the penalty spot.

Still on zero points after two games, following their 1-3 defeat to Mali in their tournament opener, Cameroon will be heading home after their final first round encounter against South Africa on Sunday while the Ivoirians and the Malians will battle for top spot.
