CNOSC establishes code of good conduct for athletes

The document to be signed by participants aim to put an end to bad behaviour during the games.

The national Olympic and sports Committee of Cameroon (CNOSC) made the point of preparations for the competition during a meeting on Monday at its headquarters in Yaoundé, with the representatives of the regional Olympic committees.

Overall, about the situation of the selections, athletes were selected in all regions and the lists sent to the Organizing Committee. Only cycling is somewhat left behind in some areas, because of the participation of runners in national or international competitions, a delay that will be quickly filled.

However, in several delegations, the issue of the licences of athletes was a major constraint. In principle, athletes should each belong to a club, itself under a sports federation. But such was not always the case with the competitors selected.

Moreover, a Charter of good conduct has been established in respect to the participants in the games. "What happened in the last edition in Douala has been one of the dark points of our Organization. The games to take place this time in Yaoundé will not accept mistakes like these', explained Emmanuel Abolo Biwole, Secretary General of the Cnosc.

He did this in order to uphold the Olympic spirit and the good state of mind during the competition.

In 2012, during the opening ceremony, for example, athletes had their way, expressed their dissatisfaction concerning inter alia, their housing conditions. A situation that is unlikely to happen again in light of the measures taken this year by the CNOSC, because all delegations will be housed in hotels.
