Canon of Yaounde has taken a good option towards qualifying for the semi finals of the cup of Cameroon. They beat their younger brothers, Ouragan of Yaounde 1-2 in the away leg quarter final match at the Ahmadou Ahidjo stadium yesterday.

The result does not reflect the physiognomy of the game given that Ouragan gave Canon a real run for their money. Ouragan was more enterprising with a seductive collective play style but failed to concretise the several chances they created upfront.

Canon opened scores through Mengue Victor and Ndzana Abou Joël obtained the equaliser just before the half time mark for Ouragan. Ouragan could have aggravated scores at the 75th minute, had it not been for the naivety of Akono who lackadaisically shot the ball unto the goalkeeper after receiving a clean pass from a team mates who had erased the Canon defence. Five minutes later, Owona Brice hammered in the victory goal for Canon.

Reacting after the encounter, the coordinator for Canon, Maboang Kessack said he was happy about victory but said they were going to prepare well for the return leg as all is not yet won. He said their ambition is to go as far as possible in the competition saying they will take one match at a time. He expressed the wish that their performance in the cup competition will also be translated to success in the championship where their ambition is to stay in the first division.
