Cameroon has arrived in Kigali ahead of their friendly game against Rwanda on January 6 with both sides preparing for the upcoming Chan 2016 set for January 16-February 7.

The 35-man delegation with 26 players arrived in the wee hours of Monday morning and will head to Rubavu where they will train in the afternoon at the newly renovated Umuganda Stadium that is the venue for the game on Wednesday.

The Indomitable Lions, who are pooled in Group B along with Angola, DR Congo and Ethiopia, will be hoping to get a feel of Rwanda before the tournament starts in less than a fortnight.

Cameroon head coach Martin Ndtoungou Mpile told supersport.com in an exclusive interview that, “It is a very good thing that we came to play against Rwanda as preparation for Chan 2016. It will help us acclimatize to the weather and food here.”

Assistant captain Stephan Kingue Mpondo admitted that the weather is good and familiar with the one back home, a factor he says will come in handy at the biennial tournament.

“It is important for us to feel the weather and see the stadiums and food in Rwanda. The weather is good and the Rwandan people are very nice people. They have welcomed us well. It is a good thing that we are going to play against the hosts in a friendly game. It will help us to compare ourselves against Rwanda,” mentioned the excited Mpondo.

Cameroon will also play against Uganda on January 13 in Kampala to conclude their preparations for Chan 2016.

Cameroon faces Angola in the opening game on January 17 at the Huye Stadium in the Southern Province before taking on Ethiopia on January 21 and DR Congo on January 25 at the same venue.
