Cameroon celebrates International Sports Day

Cameroon and the international community have commemorated the International Day of Sports for Development this Wednesday, April 6, 2016.

The National Olympic and Sports Committee had since Monday, April 4, 2016, launched commemorative activities in Yaounde with an open day for the education on Olympic values.

In the early hours of April 6, 2016, lovers of sports took part in a sports march and will later on in the evening be treated to a roundtable discussion on the theme, “Sports, Peace and Development”.

The International Day of Sport for Development and Peace is a day the United Nations set aside to recognise the power of sport in promoting peace and erasing cultural barriers worldwide.
