Afro basketball Women 2015
Cameroon, the hosts of AfroBasket Women 2015, will be put to test in the next two weeks at the All-Africa Games in Brazzaville, Republic of Congo.
The Cameroonians are expected to face a number of AfroBasket Women title contenders, including Nigeria, Angola, Mali and Senegal.
But, whatever their success in the historic event in Brazzaville, Alain Zedong's team is aiming at putting the finishing touches for its biggest basketball challenge ever.
After all, Cameroon is hosting the AfroBasket Women tournament for the first time ever.
And, Nicole Jamen is among Cameroon players gearing up to help coach Zedong's side succeed in Africa's biggest women's basketball tournament, taking place from 24 September-3 October in the Cameroonian capital city of Yaounde.
"Hopefully we use that as a momentum for the AfroBasket [Women 2015]," Jamen told FIBA.com
As well as Zedong, the core of the team that finished fourth at AfroBasket Women 2013 is set to play in the 12-team event, which serves as a qualifier for the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games.
But in order to clinch the only direct qualification spot on offer for African teams, Cameroon will need to succeed in their Group Phase campaign alongside Mozambique, South Africa, Gabon, debutants Uganda and Mali.
Jamen,who played a key role for Cameroon a couple of years ago and has never hidden her Olympic dream, said: "Our team and the country is preparing well for the AfroBasket.
"And us [players] are practicing and preparing ourselves daily for the end of September."We have a lot of young players so I will give my best to bring my experience to the party."
Cameroon team competing in the 2015 All-Africa Games: Achiri Ade, Valerie Avebe, Sandrine Ayangma, Siloise Gano, Nicole Jamen, Cellia Kengne, Ramses Lonlack, Priscilla Mbiandja, Marie Ange Mfoula, Amina Njonkou, Clarence Sandjon and Sandrine Nzeukou.
