The Cameroon delegation came back yesterday from Cyprus with a world title from the World Sambo Championships.
Bibienne Fopa Makuetewon won a title in the 64 kg category of the competition organized in Cyprus.
Limassol, after the knockout stage, the Cameroonian sambiste won the semi-final round against the Russian Ekaterina Bodanova, before winning the gold medal in the final against the Bulgarian Pantaleeva Tamara.
The Cameroonian athlete is a masters student of geography at the University of Yaoundé 1. Besides Bibienne Fopa Makuete, the Cameroon delegation was represented by another athlete, Leonel Douglas, in the (-57 kg) category for men.
Organised on 6 and 7 December in Limassol, the global competition for Sambo brought together about 250 fighters from 31 countries.
