Common Wealth Youth Games: Cameroon grabs three medals

The Cameroonian delegation at the ongoing 5th Common Wealth Youth Games at Apia-Samoa has grabbed three medals, one in gold and two bronze.

The three medals in weightlifting were won by Njoya Ahmed Valdi whose brilliant performance brought forth a gold medal in weightlifting 77kg category.

In the meantime, Eyenga Mbo’ossi Gaelle Jeanne and Djifack Ma’atemkem Zomgouc Rayassa are entitled to two bronze medals in the +69 and 63kg categories respectively.

On the eve of the end, Cameroon occupies the 16th position on the classification chart out of a total of 62 participating countries.

It should be noted that eight Cameroonian athletes are participating in the competition which regroups athletes below the age of 18 in ten disciplines.

The competition which kicked off on 5th September 2015 ends this Tuesday 15th September 2015.
