Three days to go to the end of the 20th edition of the Commonwealth games in Glasgow-Scotland, the number of athletes who have deserted the games village is on the rise.
So far eight athletes who vanished into thin air and their whereabouts cannot be determined.
They include two wrestlers; Gilles Kamdem Mike and Bekono who fled before the beginning of the competition during the training camp in Aberdeen. The others who competed before escaping are namely; Ndoua Epie Osoungou, Mariam Guekap Wafo, Paul Dicka Mattam, Cyrille Tchatchet II, Guy Ngongang Tchuissi.

The desertion of Cameroonian athletes in Glasgow calls to mind the escape of six other athletes during the Olympic Games in London in 2012. While the talent drain goes on, Cameroon is stagnating on the 15th position and might likely regress on the medal tally sheet.
Five Cameroonians are still in competition but all contending for bronze medals. They include Elie Zamdam in the wrestling 86kg category, Joseph Essombe Tiako in the men’s 55kg category and Blandine Epanga Metala in the 63kg category.
There is also Marie Ngo Ngoa and Mbumi Nkoundjin in the final of the women long jump event. Meanwhile England has overtaken Australia at the top of the general medal classification table, now leading with 107 medals.
Australia is second equally with 107 medals but England takes the lead because they have one more gold medal than Australia.
South Africa has also regressed from the 4th to the 7th position. Nigeria and Kenya are in the 8th and 9th positions respectively.
