Coton Sport win Cup of Cameroon 2014

The final of the 55th edition of the Cameroon Football Cup was played on Sunday afternoon at the Ahmadou Ahidjo stadium in Yaounde.

The annual sporting event began in the heat after the arrival of the Head of State, Paul Biya amidst military and civilian parades.


The first half, relatively boring, resulted in no score for both teams.


The second half was largely dominated by Panther Nde but after missing two great scoring chances at the 65th minute by Gaël Nkama and 72nd minute by Meyong which could have resulted in two goals for the Beasts.


The first goal came through on the 80th minute from the foot of the Niger signed Kamilou Daouda and the second during injury time, 91st minute, which bears the stamp of substitute Kingue Mpondo.

Coton Sport won with a score of 2 goals to 0 in their sixth Cup of Cameroon trophy. The northward Lighthouse team carries two trophies this season because they are certain to win the Cameroon championship title, a competition still ongoing.


Therefore, notwithstanding their defeat of Panther Nde, they will represent Cameroon at the next African Confederation Cup.


After the final whistle, a trophy was presented to Coton Sport after they received solemn handshake from the Head of State.
