After the crisis that shook the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT), FIFA has returned again.
But this time, to provide further guidance on the management of funds it will allocate to its member association in Cameroon.
The $250 million fund which the governing body of world football devotes to each country for the development will be used for the construction of sports facilities, financing and management of football-related activities.
This will help in the promotion of the sport through its multiple programs which include Goal Programme, participatory program, win-win program, among others.
To this end, FIFA has engaged in many activities in recent weeks of which Cameroon part of the movement.
“Cameroon is already in compliance with FIFA on this aspect,” stated Zelkifli Ngoufonja, development director of FIFA's head in Yaounde.
FIFA anticipates a maximum stay of 12 years at the head of a federation. “It’s a good thing. It is a good idea that the mandates are limited. This will also give others the opportunity to bring in fresh and innovative ideas. That’s the big change," said Tombi a Roko who was recently elected as the head of the Cameroon football after a tough battle engaged with the arrest of his predecessor and mentor.
Systematic audit before any grant
When Fifa itself operates its internal moult, it is not a matter of association or linger. Now every member must submit to the Executive Committee of FIFA, reports of annual accounts and financial audit of a local and global federation.
“The reports of global accounts of the federation, should be sent to FIFA. Otherwise, no development project will be given," warned Zelkifli Ngoufonja.
More importantly, FIFA now requires that all such transactions are centralized on a single account. This is “to ensure that the money sent by FIFA does not go into unknown accounts. There should be no negative balances accepted on behalf Fifa," he added. Emphasizing the systematic refusal to combine politics to football management
