The Egyptian Football Association is waiting for their Cameroonian counterparts to confirm a date for the fixture.

Egyptian Football Association (EFA) Vice-President, Hassan Farid, announced on Friday that national team coach, Hector Cuper, has agreed to a friendly against Cameroon in October but has requested that the game is not played until October 8 or 9.

"The Cameroonian FA sent us an official invitation to play a friendly on October 5," Farid said on the EFA's website on Friday.

"I discussed it with Egypt's coach Cuper, who welcomed the offer but asked that we push the date back to coordinate with our commitment to another friendly with Australia on October 13," Farid added.

"We have sent this request to the Cameroonian FA and we are waiting for their response."

The Pharaohs are set to face Chad in the 2017 African Cup of Nations qualifiers on Sunday, with kick off scheduled in N'Djamena, Chad, for 16:30 Cairo local time.

The Egyptian national team squad has been in a closed training camp ahead of the Chad clash.

The seven-time African champions have failed to reach the continent's football showpiece three tournaments on the trot. The last time Egypt failed to qualify for two consecutive tournaments was in the 1960s when they missed out on the 1965 and 1968 African Cup of Nations tournaments.
