A meeting between the Football League and the Association of Elite Clubs has resulted in the postpondment of the Elite One kick off.

The new kick off date has been pushed to January 30, 2016.

Reasons advanced for the postponement are lack of playing grounds, delays in disbursement of the financial aid package from the Ministry of Sports and Physical Education and FECAFOOT, difficulties in carrying out the online registration of players licenses, the participation of some players of Coton Sport of Garoua and Union Sportive of Douala in the CHAN 2016 Championship in Rwanda amongst others.

According to the communiqué, Saturday, January 30, 2016, will be the launching while the rest of the matches will be played the following day. The Elite Two Championship will also kick off on February 3, 2016.

This is the second time the league is pushing forward the kick-off date of the championship. Initially, scheduled for the 9, it was later moved to the 16 and then 30th of January.

Three teams from the Northwest region are taking part in the professional league championship. Yong Sports Academy in the Elite One, and The National Polytechnic Bambui and PWD of Bamenda (recently promoted) in the Elite Two. Both leagues are made up of 18 teams each.
